Estimating Heating Costs Using Tariffs and Daily Usage.
Winter heating bills can rise quickly.
Today, we'll help you estimate the weekly cost of heating using your daily usage and tariff so you can compare options with confidence.
REMEMBER:
ALL BILLS AND COSTS WILL VARY DEPENDING ON THE PROVIDER.
THIS IS A GUIDE TO CALCULATING COSTS.
You use your heater for 5 hours a day.
Heater power rating: 1.8 kW
Electricity tariff: 33 pence per kWh
Step 1:
Convert watts to kilowatts
1.8 kW is already in kilowatts.

Step 2:
Work out daily energy use
kW × hours used = energy per day1.8 × 5 = 9 kWh per day
Step 3:
Work out weekly energy use
9 × 7 = 63 kWh per week

Step 4:
Estimate the weekly cost
63 × £0.33 = £20.79 per week
